The Elmo Plush Doll Review
A Parent’s Comparison Review of Two Different Versions
As a parent, I know a thing or two about plush toys. And if you have little ones in your life, you’ve probably seen your share of plush toys too. One thing that I’ve noticed is that there are standard, run-of-the-mill plush toys that are nothing extraordinary, and then there are Gund plush toys. Gund makes a lot of cool designs, and one of their most popular is the Elmo Plush Doll.

Hold on just a second… Did I say that the Elmo Plush was ONE of their coolest toys? Sorry. I mean that Elmo is TWO of their coolest toys? Have I lost my mind? Well, not yet. You see, there are two different Elmo Plush toys to choose from. There’s the 13 inch plush and the 15 inch plush. Both are soft, cuddly and look just like everyone’s favorite red monster.
In this comparative review, I’ll be reviewing both models of the Elmo Plush Doll to help you decide which one you would like to buy for your little Elmo fans.
The Elmo Plush Doll Compared
The Gund Sesame Street Elmo 13″ Plush
One thing that I have to say – and this applies to both plush dolls – is that neither one of them really does anything. We’ve all seen dozens of singing, laughing, good time Elmos for years. In fact, there seem to be Elmo dolls that do just about everything under the sun. Not the plush dolls, though. They are meant to be loved, cuddled and used for pretend-time play.
With that being said, the Gund Sesame Street Elmo 13″ Plush is a very nice Elmo Plush Doll. It is durable, soft and lightweight, so little ones will have no problems getting Elmo into all kinds of imaginary adventures.

The Gund Sesame Street Elmo 15″ Plush
Our second Elmo plush from Gund is the Gund Sesame Street Elmo 15″ Plush. Like the 13” model, this Elmo doll is soft and cuddly. Gund tends to under-stuff all of their toys, to make them more floppy and softer to the touch. My kids have always seemed to gravitate toward Gund plushes, more than other types of stuffed animals, so that really proves the fine quality of Gund’s plush dolls.
Elmo Plush Doll – So What’s the Difference?
The only real difference between these two models of the Elmo Plush Doll is their size. The 15” model is just a bit larger than the 13”. One thing that parents will want to make note of, though, is that neither doll is recommended for babies. In fact, the manufacturer says that these plush dolls are not recommended for kids younger than three, due to parts that could be choking hazards for babies.
Customer reviews for both the 13 inch and the 15 inch Gund Elmo Plush dolls have been mostly positive. The only real complaints have been from people who said that this doll didn’t look exactly like the puppet form Sesame Street. And while that’s an understandable complaint, plush dolls are always a bit less-plump than the characters they are representing. This is a complaint that you’ll only hear from grown-ups, though, as little kids know a good Elmo when they see one.
If you have little children who love Elmo, both the 13” and 15” versions would make great gifts and are sure to be toys that your little ones will cherish for years to come.
